Before you start employment with a family

If you become an employee of the family, you will need a tax file number. To apply for a tax file number, click here to visit the ato website.
If your arrangement with the family is of a contract type, then you will need an ABN number. To apply for an ABN, click here to visit Australian business Register website. 

Registered Carer

Some families may be able to claim the CCB if they use 'registered care'. Nannies fall under the ‘registered care’ umbrella when it comes to the CCB. Nannies must register through the Family Assistance Office and must meet certain requirements (be 18+, have a Tax File Number).
