2015 is a new year and hopefully a year that, with my second child off to school, third in pre-school, I can focus more on Poppins and keep it on the high priority list.
I have started the New Year off with this very open and honest blog spurred on by a task I had to complete as part of the 28 Day Challenge with AusMumpreneurs. The challenge was about identifying business/personal strenghts, opportunities, aspirations and reflections from the past year. I'll share my thoughts and discoveries with you here.
I have identified my strengths and realise that I am a people person, I have good oral and written communication skills, am organised and share a common empathy, connection and understanding with my target market – parents as I am one myself. In listing my strengths, I have realised that I haven't used them to maximise the opportunities in my business, such as writing regular blogs and newsletters to keep in touch with nannies and parents alike and provide useful and interesting information to both groups. On reflection of past years, I realise that I need to keep on top of administrative tasks and finance, organise the technology of the business so that I can access files and contacts from wherever I am and keep on top of emails and calls. I also realise on reflection that I am my biggest obstacle and fear what others think about me and my business and can sometimes even panic about answering calls and emails to my own business in case I let my clients and/or nannies down. Using my strengths to maximise and implement the business opportunities and overcoming my own fear, I can achieve my aspirations to grow Poppins and raise the profile of the business and myself as the business owner.
Poppins Nanny Agency will become a bigger player within the childcare/nanny arena. I will aim to answer all calls, texts and email enquiries quicker than I currently do and aim to provide constant useful and interesting tidbits of information relating to all things children, parents and nannies. I also hope to provide fantastic, professional, caring and knowledgeable nannies to all parents so that their children have the best of care and hope to provide the nannies with great jobs with kind and wonderful families who show their respect for their nannies in kind, money and working conditions.
I look forward to a busy and successful year with Poppins Nanny Agency and hope to keep it on my high priority list so that I can achieve not only self-worth and pride in what I do but have something that also gives back to my very supportive husband and my four little girls.
I hope you'll come on this exciting journey with me in 2015.
